Weren’t Starsailor the last band to release music produced by Phil Spector before he went to jail. this might be bollocks but, I seem to remember something about this when Spector got jailed

Not quite as good as Kings of Leon but still a 5/5

Surely the album wasn’t THAT bad!

starsailor might be the band with the biggest disparity between the quality of their music and the quality of the music of who they are named after (tim buckley’s starsailor)

This is correct I’m sure (haven’t looked this up).

I think my mum has a Starsailor hoodie, and that’s all you need to know about them.

Same goes for Tim Buckley’s album “Kula Shaker”.

Same goes for Jethro Tull’s album “Aqualung.”

aye i wasn’t criticising them headlining just was surprised as i had no idea they had managed to maintain that level of popularity

Aqualung are sad and lovely and you should feel bad.

worth a 2, some good songs (Jenny, Things that I’ve Done), Sam’s Town is a pretty unfairly underrated record, like that their mates with Alex Cameron have given him a platform even if the majority of their fans won’t have a clue what Cameron’s schtick is (cuz its partly aimed at them).

Giving them a 1 just to counter the people countering the try hards

  • Nah changed it back to a 2 because When We Were Young still beings a tear to my eye

They were stunningly arrogant when they first came out. called themselves the best band of the last 15 years, that kind of stuff. Don’t really mind that so much, bit of banter innit, playing up to NME or whatever.
But then Sam’s Town was a blatant, po-faced attempt at being some kind of ‘big statement’ Springsteen-esque opus and they just didn’t have the substance for it to land.

Maybe after that they settled on being ‘just a good pop band’? But by then yours truly had made up his mind.

Shite sandwich. Lucky to get a 1.

Is Ronnie the guy with the hair?

He looks like a chibi Nick Cave and is the drummer

I actually revisited that album a few weeks back following a discussion about them elsewhere. Wanted to see if it held up. Other than “My Coco” it really didn’t.
