He’s got a few side project bands also, and I just wanted to mention my love of the first Future Bible Heroes album. Very good, especially the Lonely Days single.

Think I said my piece in the 69 Love Songs thread, but an extraordinary album by a wonderful and unique band, worthy of a 5 for me.

Can’t be having then at all.

I like Distortion. I like You, Me & The Moon. I don’t like much else. In fact, I find them generally quite annoying. 2 points

As recently discussed in the 69 love songs thread: dunno.

Big fat 5

It’s a 5 for how much I love the good stuff.

Also, I often feel like I’m the only one who realises When You Were My Baby is the greatest song ever written

Those first two songs are definitely amongst my favourite TMF songs!

Never heard a note. Sorry

69 Love Songs is a monumental achievement and, regardless of the patchiness of some of the stuff in there, deserves a high score. But everything else has left me cold. Tried really hard with them over the years and cant get into it.

5/5 for 69 love songs, 2/5 for the rest, so I’ll score a 4/5 overall I think.

Daunting back catalogue. Any tips on where to go after 69 love songs?

A five from me.

One of those bands where I think all the reasons that people like them are exactly the same as the reasons people dislike them. I used to really love 69 Love Songs but almost overnight I suddenly found it just too twee and too cloying and too much like songs that were written for an off-Broadway musical that never got made. I owe them another shot at some stage but at the moment I can’t get through an entire song. 3 because I know deep down that they’re good but I just don’t want to listen to them.

Abstain, dunno who they are.

don’t think i’ve ever heard a track by them. will give them a spin over the weekend.

Get Lost is probably my favourite of theirs pre-69 Love Songs.

Absolutely love 69 Love Songs. I’ve listened to most of their other records and apart from the odd song have either been left completely cold by them or, occasionally, actively disliked them. I find a lot of their stuff too twee, knowing and over-deliberated. It’s like an exercise in pop music rather than actually being pop music.

It’s very weird, and I can’t think of another band where there is such a big disparity between loving one record and really not liking all the rest. Tough to mark but gone for a 3 because 69 Love Songs is so great.

Kind of a career of two halves, really. The way most of the albums post 69LS have an overriding concept can make them feel a bit stilted. Still a lot of good songs on them though

The pre-69LS albums are much better for me, kinda like he’s been in the shadow of this monumental achievement ever since.

Still a 5 for me

Anyway here’s SM on a breakfast TV show

And I love when he sings The Nun’s Litany
