I thought this was the original for years, because of how perfectly they executed this song’s raw, longing emotion.
Think the Ramones might be my favourite band you know.
I guarantee that no artist in past or future HGATRs has or will ever come up with a better lyrical couplet than Teenage Lobotomy’s “Now I guess I’ll have to tell 'em / that I got no cerebellum”.
They were still a touring band when I started going to gigs - recall them playing The Forum (then The Town & Country Club) and deciding that they were too much of a heritage band to bother with checking out. What a chump…
The Ramones are both great and remind me of that Shane Warne line about Monty Panesar: “Monty Panesar hasn’t played 33 Tests, he has played one Test, 33 times.”
