One of their better known songs is about Jonny being a Republican prick and nicking Joey’s girlfriend

So good and I forget how much I loved them growing up. I’ve got 3 copies of rock n roll high school cause the audio cuts out on the dvd and I had to keep getting it replaced from play.com

I meant Joey. FFS.

FFS Motörhead wrote a song about them! You don’t get that with Big Thief.

I thought this was the original for years, because of how perfectly they executed this song’s raw, longing emotion.

Think the Ramones might be my favourite band you know.

I guarantee that no artist in past or future HGATRs has or will ever come up with a better lyrical couplet than Teenage Lobotomy’s “Now I guess I’ll have to tell 'em / that I got no cerebellum”.

They were still a touring band when I started going to gigs - recall them playing The Forum (then The Town & Country Club) and deciding that they were too much of a heritage band to bother with checking out. What a chump…

The Ramones are both great and remind me of that Shane Warne line about Monty Panesar: “Monty Panesar hasn’t played 33 Tests, he has played one Test, 33 times.”

They’ve passed me by, tbh.

Always associate them with the type of 6music listener who’ll be ‘dancing round the kitchen’ with their child, usually to something like The Ramones.

However that’s probably a bit unfair on them so abstain/5

Sums it up nicely…
