Mum and dad went to Prague and asked if I wanted any cds bringing back and in amongst some other classics I said nmtb.

Culturally groundbreaking, musically utter dross.

Anyone mentioned capn jazz BTW? Officially small discography and yet massively influential on nuemo

Might make this a thing.

Drive Like Jehu for post hardcore (isn’t a thing etc., but you know what I mean)

I actually mind the term “post-Hardcore” when it’s applied to 90s bands like Fugazi or Unwound, but aye it means nothing post 2001

Cracking up rn bc it has just occurred to me that they’re such a culturally ubiquitous band yet I only know the proper obvious singles. Like I ain’t got a clue what the album sounds like and that had never occurred to me before

PiL had some great stuff tho

You get way too hung up on genre names maaaan

Thought I might give NMTB another shot tonight after this thread then saw sense and just listened to Down By The Jetty instead.

Who would realistically stick on Never Mind the Bollocks over The Fame Monster

Gave the Pistols a 3. Obviously influential but never really fancy sticking them on. Filth and the fury is a great doc though and captures their story well. Lydon’s Anger is an Energy autobiography felt dead Partridge esque at times and he spent ages defending the butter ads / I’m a Celeb appearances which is just a bit odd / embarrassing tbh.

Rate all of the PiL albums up to and including compact. Saw them live at one of those first reunion shows at Brixton academy and didn’t really enjoy it mainly because of Lydon’s whole schtick.

This is a tune.

probably my favourite PiL track, that

If we’re going for bands with limited discographies then we should just fire up the Lift To Experience HGATR and be done with that.

It’s definitely up there for me too! Remember it being used to great effect in an episode of Mr Robot and it had a lingering effect.

Less than Oasis or Madness. Fucking hellllll
