Think he has a better scream than anyone too. Back during their peak live it was absolutely terrifying.

I know I already posted it way upthread, but I love his voice in the Galapagos demo.

And I love the contrast between how gentle he sounds on the Tonight, Tonight B-sides and how brutal he sounds on the Zero B-sides.

Those vocals are awful. Sorry but they just are.

Oh yeah, don’t get me wrong, it definitely is and I love it. He just has many more that I love a lot more.

Imagine wanting Tonight, Tonight to rank higher than Today!

Tonight, Tonight is a better song that Today though.

It’s a wonderful album opener (effectively) full of heart and promise, always makes me excited for the album to come, I don’t think it really lives up to the potential that song suggests but for a couple of minutes there it’s magical.

Was the first Pumkins song I ever heard in my compulsive mtv2 watching of yore. The video is wonderful too. Love the strings, has such a positive feel to it

Taken from the wikis. Love this

Dayton and the production crew initially had problems locating costumes for the video because the movie Titanic was being shot at the same time in Los Angeles.[21] Titanic director James Cameron rented nearly every turn-of-the-century prop and costume in the city, leaving the “Tonight, Tonight” production crew little to work with.[21] Directors Dayton and Faris compromised by renting the leftover costumes and hiring designers to remake them into the elaborate period clothing seen in the video.[21] The video took three days to shoot.[22]

If you (or anyone) does like the music and just can’t handle his voice, they have hours and hours of instrumentals (and of course, songs where James or D’arcy sing too).

I’ve always loved this one from the limited Machina promo CD, I don’t think many people realize he also makes music like this.

Never really liked Rocket that much, relative to the rest of that album, which is odd, as i think i based one of my compositions for GCSE Music around it.

I put the melon album on for the first time since I was about 13 listening in my sisters room. I thought the songs that don’t feature guitars doing really boring things were a lot better than the songs with RIFFS and stuff.

I think it was one of the last to click for me, but when it did it really did. It’s such a unique song.

The alternate version where the verses have a different melody that they were doing during part of the Mellon Collie tour was great too.

Think for me it just kinda plods a bit like some of the also-included tracks on The Bends. Fine as a song, but after those first 4 songs there’s something that puts me off. Think it might be a partly a production thing, idk.
