Reckon if it had been Andrew Marr on guitar, they still be going.

Quite like them, although there was never an album I particularly gravitated to. Really love some of Morrissey’s solo stuff tbqh. 3.

This is nice

I think I might have my first Smiths binge in years. I really miss just crooning around my bedroom like a massive bellend

Really don’t know how to vote. Used to listen to them so much when I was a moody teen. My favourite friend loved them too. Such warm feelings for that aspect of those days.

Aargh. I don’t know.
Why does Morrissey have to be such a proper fucking TUBE

tarnished, reckon he was always dodge, so now have no sympathy for the narrator of the songs and they have lost their meaning, when I hear ‘I am human and I need to be loved’ I think ‘nope’

on a musical level, I think it is weird they are seen as a bit of a generic indie template, think they had a lot more going on, the bass playing in particular is underrated, Marr’s fluid jangley layers could sound amazing, but having said that sometimes it gelled together into a surpassing pub rock karaoke backing track, it really was Mozzarellas (keeping that auto correct) voice the imbued it with some special quality. Telling that Marr never did anything worthwhile since (obviously Morrissey too)

Easiest 1 since Eminem. Never liked them anyway, and Morrissey is a grade A wank.

And Some Girls are Bigger than Others - an utterly beautiful tune saddled with a ‘will this do?’ lyric.

The heights of The Queen is Dead (the singles, the title track, There is a Light, I Know it’s Over) are dizzyingly high though - reckon @anon19035908’s analysis is correct.

Listen to the very start and tell me he’s not saying ‘Robert Peston’.

Developed a strange tradition of always having the best-of on in the background whilst I do my Christmas wrapping. Think I’ve done it since my teenage years. I have no explanation for this behaviour.

Didn’t this year, for the first time in almost 20 years - because Morrisey. Probably will again this year as I’ve now successfully partitioned him as a human from the music made by the Smiths.

The second album he made with The The (Dusk) is superb.

Never really clicked with me. Found the endless chiming jangly guitars annoying. And M********ys voice didn’t do much for me either. Preferred the Wedding Present from that era. Gedge is a better song writer as well.
