I own Wild Wood and Stanley Road. Stanley Road is a bit of a slog but not going to deny I still have the odd listen to Wild Wood

I like Wild Wood, there are good bits from across his back catalogue tbf, but also some absolute bilge.

You brought intellect into it. I don’t know what’s worse.

Mersey Paradise is a great song!

What I have learned most in reading this thread is that minnows are called pinkeens in Ireland.

So pretty much anyone who likes U2 is an intellectual pinkeen.

For those that dislike Ian’s voice you can always enjoy John’s singing

You heard me

I imagine it’s hard to look at the Stone Roses now without seeing all those wizened 50 year olds at the reunion gigs, but indulge me while I reminisce.

I was a student in Manchester in the baggy era and had a great deal of fun. It was the only time in my life I’d say I was ever involved in any kind of ‘scene’.

Manchester’s a fairly small place and it was very possible to find yourself in a bar with The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and the Inspiral Carpets on the same night.

Ian Brown is from my hometown, and the Stone Roses had a residency at my favourite indie disco there (Legends, Warrington, sadly no more). So they were on my radar as they got massive, and I had bragging rights about liking them before they were famous, even though technically I never actually saw them there.

But despite them having a fond place in memory and providing me with some old man nostalgia, they were a bit shit really. 3/5

it’s not often i pass up a poll but i just can’t lend my support to either here

Sticklebacks are a type of small fish, that sound like Nickelback

quite like this, but not enough to justify the stone roses existence
