Noel Gallagher in particular eh, fucking mushy mid rubbish out of him every time

Townsend is a great rhythm player and I’m surprised that there isn’t more Keith Moon chat (probably missed it, plus he was an absolute thundercunt). Their shit is patchy as though for me, also not mad on the very early stuff including and up to I can see for Miles. So it’s a 3. Who’s Next is probably the most consistent of them. Remember watching the ‘classic album’ on it during one of me and my mates first attempts to get stoned and he thought the documentary had lasted 24 hours. Probably telling.

Really enjoy how much bile they’ve generated here btw. Also @Severed799 you don’t know how much I love people talking like that about music, regardless of how much I like it. Big love.

Have we guessed who fortune23 is yet?

Probably not a great guitarist but i really liked/still do like that wall-of-sound guitar thing on the first Oasis album. Stuff like Columbia etc, really hits the spot for me idk
Going to really go for blasphemy and say it’s almost shoegaze-esque at times.

Would argue Who borrowed more from garage than vice versa. Not to say they didn’t have any influence - you can hear it in the Sex Pistols for sure, but arguing the likes of New York Dolls or the Ramones owed much to the who, maybe, but not so much.

Absolutely, it’s probably the best thing about Oasis tbh and there’s a definite shoegaze influence on loads of britpop

I mean My Generation came out a year after bands like the Count 5 recorded psychotic reaction etc

i actually can’t tell most Who songs apart. all the ones that are theme tunes to the various different CSI series are actually all the same song imo.

Yeah fair, but that goes back to the US/UK split in general. What I mean is, My Generation as a record has got that “punk energy” I like to bang on about so much and it remains up until Quadrophenia

For sure a ton of those early UK punk bands like Sham 69 and early oi kept the mod aesthetic because of the Who

Sure, but they can both be relevant?

Yeah that’s what I was saying really especially since getting a US garage single over here was so tough, I just meant to say they were more a part of a garage sound than the beginners of it - although even moreso here obviously.

I know, but I’m not at liberty to say.

watched Tommy once when it was on BBC2 late at night years ago and it’s really shit isn’t it. the ‘see me, feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel me’ bit over and over and over again did my fucking head in.

Their earlier stuff like Columbia had shoegaze and acid house influences, funny enough its when they tried to sound more like The Beatles that they got worse.
