This interview still makes me laugh. The ‘sense of humour about themselves’ factor mentioned upthread is very much in evidence and Bono’s clearly half-pissed. It beats the interviews Jools Holland does that’s for sure

I’m not keen on most of 80s U2 and anything from 2000 onwards is pretty terrible, however, 90s U2 are great!

Best U2 songs from the 90s:

Until The End of the World
The Fly
Tryin’ To Throw Your Arms Around the World
Love Is Blindness
Lady With The Spinning Head (Extended Mix)
Babyface
Lemon
Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
Numb
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me Kill Me
Miss Sarajevo
Your Blue Room
Gone

I’m listening to the ‘Passengers: Original Soundtracks 1’ album they made with Brian Eno at the moment and it is quite lovely in places. If you like Eno’s ambient stuff you might like it. This is good:

Agreed. Love Passengers.

Patchy albums but they have a serious compilation in them. Voted for Diane Young - banger - but my real fave is Diplomat’s Son

Better than any U2 song I’ve heard (never listened to them)

Dont worry, I missed the thread completely and in my absence they gave VW an insulting score.

6 Music played ‘Beach Sequence’ from Passengers recently, but credited it only to Eno, which seemed a tad unfair. I sent an ‘Oooiiii’ text message, but nothing came of it.
