Bono’s been a plonker on this but the attached tweet is such a load of nonsense. “Dirty deal”? The hotel group (not Bono and The Edge) that already held the lease for The Clarence got a loan from a UK subsidiary of an Israeli bank to fully take it over. I don’t know how that’s relevant to Bono’s stance on Israel at all.

Don’t know if you’ve seen, but on their website there are now individual statements from each member of U2 concerning Gaza/Israel. It’s kind of bizarre. The Edge gets closest to the point, if that’s worth anything.

I haven’t had the energy to read their statements on Gaza, but I finally just saw Bono’s on Bad Hasbara and it might be the single worst thing I’ve seen from anyone who isn’t directly involved or actively positioning themselves as a Zionist grifter. So profoundly stupid and offensive it’s shocking.
Short version: The Edge managed to call it a genocide, the others did not.

The thing that struck me most about Bono’s (aside from the narcissism) was the way he presented dehumanizing lies, debunked propaganda, and baby-brained narratives as fact. The things he says are completely deranged and unbelievably racist. I can’t wrap my head around deciding to put that out 22 months into an open, livestreamed genocide.

my first ever outdoor gig was the ZooTV gig at parkhead, i was 15 and we went with my pals big cousins. we queued for hours and then there was a sprint to get into the pit. Had never seen anything like it, helluva gig.
