It’s a tricky one. I think broadly, anyone who has released something brilliant far outweighs the shite they may have done. Every band who has been around for a long time has released rubbish. Jane’s Addiction have only released two decent albums and they’re still a great band.

Every album that I have (and fucked if I’m buying all of them) has at least something that I like on it - I really like The Angel And The One, even if he probably should have taken the line about his ‘purple majesty’ out of what is basically a love song.

Beverly Hills is just absolutely fucking dreadful so I ignore its existence and put on Say It Ain’t So instead.

(PS never really got the lover for Pinkerton, have tried numerous times and just not got it. I like Green.)

I absolutely adore Weezer.
I cannot begin to explain how much shame I feel about it, but I think the shame comes from being unable to separate art from the artist.
Rivers is an evil catchy pop genius, but also a huge misogynist jerk, although I’ve never met the guy he seems quite narcissistic, the way he treats the rest of weezer (didn’t he arrange for them to be paid depending on how much input they had? The green album I think)
Weezer are poppy and silly and easy to listen to. Maybe their music doesn’t really make you feel anything deep or profound, but it can just be there in your head, earworms.

Also a lot of hidden gems (smart girls-Hurley, put me back together-raditude) were co written with some different artists, who put their own stamp on something that is still so deeply weezer.
Smart girls was Tony Kanal of No Doubt (who I also shamefully adore)

So I think, it’s really, people who love weezer (like me) know that they suck, but we can’t help but love them.

Imagine if he dipped into that Excel spreadsheet of his and chose 10 unreleased bangers from 1994-2003 to record and release for the next Weezer album.

A 25th anniversary edition of Pinkerton with Songs From The Black Hole as a bonus disc would be lovely as well, thanks.

It’s weird to me that Everclear has back-to-back albums better than Blue and Pinkerton but are largely considered a joke. Art should have worn glasses.

It’s also weird that Blink 182 are considered a joke but Rivers is considered a pop genius.

Won a copy of Maladroit and a Kermit the frog doll in W tee through a Kerrang mag competition. Was dead chuffed!

Really rate the first four albums (and still do) then kinda lost interest before Make Believe came out. Occasionally dipped my toes into other records but they’ve never quite held my interest in the same way. Some decent stuff on Rivers Solo albums though too.

The Teal album is unbelievably shite.

Also great to see you posting again @Ruffers
