I actually agree with all of this. In fact, one of the reasons that the title of TOYPAJ annoys me so much is because it’s one of the best pop-punk/pop-rock albums of all time. Also, Blink-182 have an unbroken run of 3 genre-classic albums which is something I don’t think you can say about Weezer, because someone will always want to debate Green.

Oh, and I’m just going to say it because it doesn’t seem to have come up enough - Pinkerton is overrated and sounds like shit. I would love to have heard a Rick Ocazek version of it, mind.

Weird how for a band I’ll confess have put out some absolute dross I still consider defending them for a split second, so obsessive my love was for them once

where’s the world has turned and left me here?

Not a single. Read the thing!

one of the easier 5s i’ve given btw. listened to blue album, pinkerton, and even most of the shittier albums on repeat as a teenager. still do to an extent.

even like songs like beverly hills.

Personally if I vote low, I have my reasons why. However I don’t arbitrarily want to get into exactly why for people that are fans of said act.

If I like the artist I’ll talk about it, if not little blurb tops.

I think Rivers has finally exhausted everyone. I can’t like or dislike modern Weezer anymore, they’re just a fact of life, like the sun coming up in the morning, grass being green or Double Deckers being the best chocolate bar ever made.

Anyone go really deep down the rabbit hole.

Exhibit a- AM Radio, once managed by Rivers Cuomo and featuring Kevin Ridel

Who was in Zoom with Rivers Cuomo, a hair metal band that preceded Weezer (also known as Avant Garde)

Also Karl Koch, longtime webmaster of Weezer.com had an album

And was friends, alongside the band, of the two best Weezer fans who ever lived, Mykel and Carli (:sob:), producing one of the best Weezer tracks ever

Me and my Weezer pumpkin, Halloween 2008. Taken in a toilet as that was the only dark room in the house:

Fuck, i forgot about Ozma.

Still have live for the obviius albums and the 90s b-sides and anything unreleased from the original version of album 2. Green is a decent Ash album, and Maladroit is grwat in places. Everything will be… Was a return to their melodies and white was decent too. I gave them a 4 for all the love I had for them way back when. Used to play loads of covers with school bands. In fact they were in many ways a bit of an Oasis parallel in terms of bands i was in and the early vs latter day songs. I enjoyed them a lot at Sonisphere in 2011, less so at Reading the year before.

First song my firstborn loved was My name is jonas so it holds a spot in my heart. They were a gateway band for me in a lot of ways, got into indie (flaming lips, dino jr, pixies) because of the Blue album. Bought the cd after seeing the Sweater Song on mtv or whatever, the heaviness of the guitars mixed with their nerdy 'fits intrigued me.

Lost interest after the first couple albums but I had so many friends, family and roommates that were into them so I was able to stay current on them through the years. Still liked just about everything I heard, even the dumb singles are pretty fun (Africa cover is bad tho).

The Weezer worship was def out of hand when I got to college in the late 90s and it turned me off for a while for sure.

Fine band. 3.5/5

Worst Weezer song? Have never been able to hate Can’t Stop Partying because ‘ok bitches its Weezer and it’s Weezy, upside down MTV, please dont shoot me down cos I’m an endangered species’ is hilarious. Sticking with Raditude though it might have to be Love is the Answer:
