šŸŽµ How Good Are They Really šŸŽµ Wild Beasts

Parts of Hellfire by black midi had big Limbo Panto energy, especially Dangerous Liaisons and 27 questions. Also sadly gone too soon though.

Feel bad for the sticking he’s getting. If he wants to play the songs he can do. They’re his.

Yeah, tbh, I think this sounds great. The error was the test I reckon. Would’ve been different if they’d just announced it.

I remember me and my uni housemate discovering The Devil’s Crayon somewhere and both loving it, then he downloaded the album but I found the rest of the album a bit silly and annoying (he was more into it). Still never entirely come round on the debut tbh but I like a couple of songs, His Grinning Skull is quite good.

When Two Dancers came out it took some cajoling from him to get me to listen to it but turned out to be great and found they were very good live. Liked Smother a lot too, though I remember going to see them again on the tour for it and a couple of then work friends asking who I was going to see and being a bit baffled after they’d had a listen.

Present Tense was fine but I found it a lot more forgettable. It wasn’t bad but most of it just didn’t stick with me in the same way as the previous two, even after seeing it live. Not sure if I just didn’t spend as much time with it or was just listening to different stuff and not in the right headspace for it. I think this album was an entry point for a couple of mates though who were living in London and ended up seeing them at an instore.

Boy King seemed like they circled back to being a bit silly again but I never spent much time with it to see if it was a grower or anything. For the first time since Two Dancers they weren’t touring near me so didn’t make any real effort with it.

Still stick on Two Dancers occasionally but haven’t heard any of the rest in ages. Always meant to check out that RAK album.

Boy King is totally fine. A bit of a lark and only disappointing by their high standards. And it still ends with one of their best ever songs - Dreamliner.

Just came here to add to the ā€˜Two Dancers’ love-in. I loved ā€˜Limbo Panto’ too but the follow up was such a step up. I’m not very technical when it comes to production but it just SOUNDS so good. Definitely still in my favourite ten albums of the 21st century so far. Everything else was always going to be a step down but still all worthy listens for me.
