Hello! To mark the 250th HGATR thread we’re going to put the top 40 acts from the leaderboard against each other in a thrilling and fun-packed world cup tournament, because why the fuck not.

HOW IT WORKS

The 40 artists have all been seeded (Acts 1-8 in Pot 1, 9-16 in Pot 2 and so on) and one name from each pot randomly put into one of the 8 qualifying groups. You can vote for 2 artists in each group, and the top 2 will go through to the knockout stages. It’s really very simple.

So then, let’s World Cup!

There are a couple of groups there where I could have picked four of the first acts. Another couple of groups where I’ve barely been arsed with more than one of them. I think I’m out of sync with the HGATR hivemind. Ah, the magic of the cup!
