Must have been playing some extended versions of their songs

Absolutely loved that first EP, the Machine single and Fever To Tell. Then completely CBA to listen to them after. Unsure, really, what changed… I think the rough atonal edges went as they got bigger, and the other elements weren’t enough for me to be engaged.

I’d forgotten about that EP, that’s actually really good. Think it was written back around the time of FTT.

The first few releases are a 4, but a 3 is fairer overall. Although Mosquito has some terrible tracks and a jaw-dropping cover, I think it’s about as good as It’s Blitz… both albums suffer from severe cringe. Feel it in my gut that they’ve still got another great release in them, but doesn’t seem likely to happen anytime soon.

Gone back to my YYYs playlist today and find it holds up pretty well. (1st EP tracks missing because they're not on streaming.)

Cheated Hearts
Rockers to Swallow
Date with the Night
Way Out
Soft Shock
Under The Earth
Black Tongue
Down Boy
Modern Romance
Skeletons
Turn Into
Subway
Maps
Y Control
Despair

Gave them a 3 , almost a 4 because they are one of the few bands that manged to pull of quite successfully the curve ball new sound with synths album on It’s a Blitz. Most bands try it and usually it’s shit. If they could do that one more time ,say in 2021 they released a new album and it was different AND good. Then they’d be in 4 territory.

Forgot about the Is Is EP.

Brilliant

Listening to Is Is now too, Down Boy and 10x10 are quality and it used be great when they found their way onto setlists.

Just remembered I saw them a 5th time at APE and I left feeling like I could have predicted the entire setlist along with all the added bells and whistles so decided I wouldn’t go see them again until there is new material.

Prediction that their score will be the same amount of times Yeah features in their name.

Which is still a higher score overall than SLA…

SLADE will score.

Never really gave It’s Blitz much time so will have another go after all the glowing reviews. Loved Show Your Bones and Fever To Tell is obvs excellent. Wish I’d seen them tour it at Reading than probably some total guff on the main stage.
But all points east a couple of years ago was great fun.

I liked Yeah Yeah Yeahs a fair bit, but when I look at my rankings for other stuff, I can’t really justify more than a 3. Three very solid albums, no real classics. Can’t say I ever really go back to them. Karen O is really cool and a great front woman. Yeah.

SLAYER!!!

just making sure that they’re not featured for at least another 10 volumes

Rather listen to Reign in Blood than Aretha Franklin.

Excellent band. Three excellent albums and one mediocre one (Fever to Tell).

Only heard that one song of theirs, you know the one, and they came out in that time period where everybody was bumming completely mediocre shite so I’ve ignored them ever since, so in conclusion, band of contrasts and they’re no Slayer/5

Take! Would love to hear the reasoning

Fever To Tell and Show Your Bones are great, as are the S/T and Is Is EPs.

I don’t really rate It’s Blitz and Mosquito is terrible so it’s a 3.5 rounded down to a 3.

Never saw them live so the score can’t be positively influenced by that unfortunately.

I really like It’s Blitz but it might be that it was proper front loaded, haven’t listened to it in years.

Only a few good songs, the albums were pretty dull but were fantastic live.

2 for the reasons everyone said here but with less enthusiasm. They were really good but as if they’re almost two thirds perfect
