And conversely burns coffee

Sounds like an utter amateur tbh!

I reckon I could make anyone a tip-top cup of tea if they tell me how they like it.

no one has ever noticed, from taste alone, that milk was added to their drink at the wrong time. Sad!

optimum technique is

bag in mug
pour in freshly boiled water (v important that old water thats been boiled b4, left hanging around in kettle is not used. this is the no1 cause of tea ming)
give the bag a good poke with a teaspoon
add milk
poke some more with the teaspoon until perfect tea colour is reached

We’ve got one of those Quooker taps at work. Seems to do a good job.

These seem dangerous both in terms of a physical threat and a sign of outrageous decadence

Love the advert though where they suggest someone just with a bowl of tomatoes is in a massive rush

Agreed. I’m worried I’ll use the wrong function and lose a hand/have cool water.

I spend most weekdays WFH and making hot drinks. It might end up being my “10,000 Hours of Practice = World Class Specialist” area of expertise…

Chuck a bag tea in a vessel, splosh a load of burning liquid on it. Stab it with a thing, fish it out with your fingers, spill milk, done.

10/10

No point crying over it in fairness

Fingers? Are you not stirring it either?

Nah mate.

Unorthodox, but not horrendous.

Won’t you even swoosh mid-stab?

Haha, yeah, I’ll give it a bit of a dunk and a swirlyswoosh.

I was going to post something really boring about my tea-making routine but I’ve censored myself.

Haha, nuke it in the microwave for 5 mins, yeah?

Well, I’ll tell you, seeing as you didn’t ask.

Once a week, I work in a different office to my normal one. I have my own supply of teabags and milk - but no spoon. HOWEVER, the teabags are PG Tips pyramid bags, which have a nice handy corner that floats just above the surface. So I can give the bag a bit of a swoosh around the mug and then remove it without scalding myself.
