I was told that I was really good at my job by the old head chef. Then some guy a few months ago said I’d be really good if I cared at all. It’s moving your hands about and tasting things which is extremely easy for me. Not working now though. A huge loss for the industry.

I base my judgement on the fact that I have not been sacked, despite spending a ridiculously small amount of effort daily on getting my job done for some time.

I had imposter syndrome from 2012 till recently as the jobs I was doing had a lot of completely new areas in small businesses which I’d been entrusted by bosses who had faith in my ability to adapt. I am good at adapting but the flipside is that you’re always stumbling which can affect your confidence and you have no-one to ask.

The job i’m doing now is just a bigger version of what I’d just done and it’s SO nice knowing your shit. You know how how people wake from comas speaking fluent French (source unverified)? it 's like that but I’ve woken up speaking fluent fucking business jargon.

How often do you use google for a work reason?

At least once a day for me

Have massive imposter syndrome and have no idea why I haven’t been found out yet.

Nb am also well aware none of this tallies with reality not with the performance reviews I get, all of which are really positive.

Great fun being me sometimes :exploding_head:

Average but reliable. Dependable counts for a lot when it’s a shitshow

Are you a GP?

Decent but a bit slow.

Despite massive imposter syndrome I think I’m better than most at the strategic and creative elements of my job. I also work bloody hard at what I do.

Use the Internet all the time now the vendor’s documentation is all online. I remember the days we had shelves full of manuals and text books to refer to.

If I had the relevant qualifications I’d be fast tracked to a life of upper quartile wealth, baby. But I don’t and won’t do for another 3-4 years.

It’s good though cos I got pushed out from my last-ish place for being shit and it didn’t feel great. It was a shit job though. Glad it’s worked out.

I have no job so does this make me amazing or terrible?

The five options in the poll match the grading I get for annual reviews. 1 for being crap to 3 for doing what you were hired for to 5 for being God.

Loads of people on 4s in the poll. I find that hard to believe considering the work hours spent on DIS.

Here we go.

Amazing for cheering us up everyday on DiS
