Maybe. I only saw them once and it was about 4 years ago, thought it was all just completely underwhelming and their visuals a bit embarrassing.

underwhelming, not surprising. they’re defs past their best really.

visuals-wise, that stuff is such a cliché now, but it wasn’t initially right?

like, I don’t think of their politics outside of their art because it all felt self-contained, coming from an authentic, almost outsidery place.

Just had a listen to Fuck Off Get Free, v good album. Didn’t realise they used vocals so much, I always kind of assumed SMZ would just sound fairly similar to Godspeed for some reason. The debut isn’t a million miles away other than being a lot more stripped back, but this one is pretty different. A lot more accessible than Godspeed actually.

I think that’s the most polished ASMZ have ever been, just a great record front to back, well produced with good songs. Anything after the second album is in that zone.

Unfortunately not @dktrfaustus. I’m not averse to having a HGIIR for albums that are not necessarily regarded as classics but will spark a lot of discussion because loads of us have heard it. FF might be one of those albums so I’ll give some thought to adding to the list
