Time for some Bowie. You’ve chosen Low but how good is it really?

I found out last week that LD Beghtol died in December so it’s a special edition HGIIR next week. For those who know who he is I’m sure you can guess which album it’s going to be, for those who don’t a quick internet search will probably reveal the answer

Really boring with only one good track

That’s gonna be one damn long song poll

Its a 10 for Low, obviously. Perfect record.

Was gonna do them next week. Will hold off!

Incredible that another 10/10 record (“Heroes”) came out that same year.

I’ve already thought of a way around that

My favourite album of all time, I genuinely wouldn’t change a note. 10, obviously.

If we’re voting on which disc I would still find this difficult.

Took me a while to appreciate it, but it’s a 10/10 isn’t it. Not a single wasted note. Always Crashing is stupidly good - I love how dejected he sounds.

Think if I’d borrowed a bunch of Bowie albums from the library when I was 14/15 instead of loads of 60s stuff I would have been into him. I think his stuff is better than most of what I listened to whilst still being essentially the same template.

As it was though I didn’t and only listened later at which point I just found it all a bit pedestrian. The Berlin trilogy were always most disappointing because I could never square the description of radical musical innovation with what I heard.

For such an esteemed album it’s funny how silly it is

Really nice when this thread or the artists equivalent throw up something you’re really in the mood for imo

never heard

An easy 10. I love it to pieces. Blackstar is my favourite Bowie album because it’s when he really clicked for me as an artist past the main singles. But this is every bit as treasured.

10/10

Could pick any of half a dozen tracks as my favourite but today I’ll go with ‘Always Crashing…’ love Ricky Gardiner’s meandering solo at the end.
