Yea, there’s no pop songs on this one. :joy:

The cover is great

Yeah. No bass either

I grew up on metal and metal adjacent music, so I should have loved this. But I don’t and I never did.

For something that’s supposed to be one of the pinnacles of metal I think it sounds really tame, which is possibly something to do with the production. It’s too clean.

These days if I’m listening to heavy music I prefer it to be either crushingly slow and hypnotic or so fast it sounds like a droning blur of sound. This is neither of those things. And James Hetfield’s voyyyeeeeeaaaaaccaah does my head in.

That’s …and justice, Cliff’s bass is fantastic.

It was a comment about how the production basically minimised the bass until the Black Album. This is what they said in Some Kind of Monster

It’s a cracking album. Easy 10. One of the best metal records of all time. I love it

I’ve never seen some kind of monster. I don’t need that in my life :scream:

Voted for James Brown as I’ve never quite got round to listening to an album by him, will be a good excuse.

MoP is just one of those albums that bemuse/amuse me. Nothing against it, just not for me. It’s obviously considered an absolute classic.

Oh dude, you absolutely do. It’s a masterpiece.

Seen it many times but never even noticed that G.I. helmet on the far left until now
very very silly

Wasn’t that just because they never really accepted Jason Newstead?

An almost perfect metal album let down by some of the drumming. I don’t always mind Lars’ pedestrian plodding, but sometimes you can literally hear him counting beats. Particularly in fills.

I think I probably prefer Ride the Lightning on balance but they’re still both 10s. Changed my best song vote from Battery to Orion because it’s sorely underappreciated.

It’s undeniable quality makes the subsequent 35(!) years of Metallica seem even more terrible and confusing.

Only good thing Metallica have ever been involved in IMO.

To paraphrase Lars’ dad, they’re fucking stock.

+1, always slightly preferred Ride the Lightning but they’re both classics

It’s a pure real life Spinal Tap mate

I’m just not sure I’ll be able to listen to Metallica if I watch it.
