Are you aware of Orange Cassidy? I think you’d appreciate his special brand of violence

Was he ever a proper heel? Can’t remember.

Yeah multiple times.

He was heel pretty much the entirety of his initial Mankind run from 1996 - 1997 (with a short face/tweener run) and started turning face slowly in 1998. He then went back to fullblown heel as corporate Dude Love after that he reverted back to Mankind and thats when he introduced Mr Socko and became bonefide face. He was a heel most his WCW run as well (if not all)

He was a heel in the mid 00’s with Edge as well.

I would say Mick Foley was never a full blown face until end of 1998

A proper heel, as in a crowd stirrer, a pantomime villain, a chorus of boos sort? I can’t remember that.

I think there are some wrestlers whose authenticity and natural demeanour mean no amount of storytelling can make them the bad guy.

I’ll bow to your knowledge, only really watched wrestling regularly from 94ish-00 or so, but I can’t remember him being a huge villain.

Think his anti-hardcore stuff in ECW was the closest he came to that, he was trying to wind up the crowd there, but otherwise he was always portrayed more as a monster than a bad guy

He always tended to play the mosnter/misguided boy lead astray more than a panto villain.

I forgot abotu his anti-hardcore run in ECW whic his probably the most obvious wind up. His Edge stuff was pretty cookie cutter heel and not all that memorable. The feud they had was really good but the heel turn kinda petterred out

Those ecw promos I posted above are so great, it’s the purest form of heeling I think when heels blame the fans for their delusions and just seem completely blind to their faults. Though I do love the Flair/MJF mould of secretly knowing they’re shitcunts too.

his house is for sale, if anyone’s looking

Definitely my favourite wrestler and for a long time now. I remmeber the match with randy orton so vividly, my mum walked in like :expressionless: this is so fake with the thumbtacks but I was so into it, glad she didn’t see barbie or she would have stopped my siblings and I from watching. Don’t usually bother with autobiographies (prefer to watch films or documentaries about people instead than read for some reason) but his wrestling books are really good
