no I mean Australian drama Prisoner starring Susan Kennedy and Lyn Scully

They’re all bobbins, apart from Corrie, but if they get their hooks in you, you kind of become dependent on knowing what happens to the characters.

it’s still on air and is therefore exempt from these threads

Brookside is a 5. Reminds me of Saturday afternoons with my mum watching the omnibus before Final Score. The ending of it is so brilliantly ridiculous where there have Jack Michaelson (Michael Jackson was the exec who axed it) as a character who’s like a drug dealer or something and they all hang him out of his bedroom window. Jimmy Corkhill’s final speech is great too, channeling Postlethwaite in Brassed Off.
Twincest was awful. The weekly explosions/dramas like Jacqui Dixon being blinded etc are obviously brilliant.

Once I went to a pub quiz where the losers got to pick the special round for the next week. The previous losers had picked Brookside as a joke, i convinced the team to play our joker, got 20/10 and won £120.

Nothing on Brookside beats Bombhead hallucinating Mr. C’s ghost

yes! the Saturday omnibus was perfect.

Remember when the nightclub exploded and the manager from Dream Team and his son died. Think it was a bomb. Liverpool seemed like an impossibly dangerous place to me as a kid

Once Tinhead saved some guys life and he went to his house to get a reward and was like “wtf music is this” and the guy said Half Man Half Biscuit and Tinhead was all “this fellas fucking weird, let’s go”.

remember when Suzannah was driving and her kids were arguing in the back seat and she got distracted and both the kids died in the resulting crash? Seemed a bit harsh

(and then she got murdered after pushing Max down the stairs- or did Max push her down the stairs? something to do with stairs)

Max did I think, then got together with Jacqui.

Reading the Wikipedia now:

Nikki had been raped, stalked, held hostage, and her father, brother and sister had all been killed during her time in Brookside Close.

I think her brother then appeared in Hollyoaks as the same character.

Prisoner: Cell Block H is the class apart here.

always good to see neighbours cast members (Lou, Susan Kennedy, Harold etc) really let loose and swear/hit people etc.

All 1s except Brookside cos they did the first pre-watershed lesbian kiss and that’s a very positive thing and The Bill because its particular brand of wonderfully naff worked for me.

Soaps are dross.
