They are both the pinnacle of US ensemble sitcoms. Cheers took a while to get started and Frasier went off the boil towards the end, but at their peak they were both untouchable.

And if they weren’t already good enough, George Wendt (Norm) went on some short lived channel 4 karaoke programme and busted out a House Of Freaks cover.

Of course it’s on YouTube. They really don’t make telly like this anymore

God knows how they talked Spike Milligan into this

very fond memories of them both

I used to love watching Cheers on Ch4 at about 6:30 after school. It was by far the best of all the sitcoms shown in that timeslot back then (Blossom, some thing set in a Diner in Phoenix, Family Ties maybe?). It was all Kirsty Alley/ Woody Harrelson era by then though, I’ve not seen many of the older ones

Frasier always seemed really tightly scripted, the farce type episodes were always great. Got shit after Niles and Daphne got together, hardly a hot take though

4/5 for both of them

U fucking what? 4 real?

5/5 the chemistry between niles and frasier is unparalleled as far as im concerned and every second with those 2 on screen together is fantastic

in college we used to go to johns house on a free period we all had on friday mornings and watch cheers. we used to all go “NORM!” when someone arrived at the pub a bit later than everyone else too. now every time i see woody harrelson in something i think (and often say) woody from cheers has done well for himself. i think him having the same name in cheers as his actual irl name was the start of me liking to pretend that people are playing the same character in everything theyre ever in

Evaluation Copy is also my favourite minor Frasier character. What a coincidence!

(I scored them like you.)

Ditto Ted Danson. It is weird seeing Woody Harrelson playing a genial rube in the role that made him famous when he’s played the complete opposite in pretty much every film since

I would like to vote 10 for Frasier please.

My favourite show (except for the ones with Daphne’s brother in)

Constantly amazes me how Grammar was absolutely off his tits the whole time and would be an absolute wreck until the moment they shouted action.

It’s a shame he’s such a douchebag irl.

Isn’t he keen to run for president?

Also I never saw any resemblance between Hyde Pierce and Grammar, until quite recently.

Really enjoyed cheers when i was young and was one of the few comedies i remember me and my siblings laughing along with my folks. Although thinking back we were probably laughing at different things in it.

Frasier is fucking brilliant, yeah definitely drops off after niles and daphne get together but an easy peasy 5 for me up to then.
As many folk have mentioned they do farce so well and the dad just grounds all the pretentious nonsense beautifully.

Yeah, always thought the same then read that David Hyde Pierce was chosen because of how much he looked like Grammar in his first Cheers appearances. Watched them back and right enough:

Frasier looks fine but niles looks monstrous haha

Absolutely fucking hate Frasier. Hate farce, so it was never going to be a winner with me, and I get that him and Niles are often the butt of the joke but who wants to watch a show where the two main characters are such insufferable snobbish pricks.

Also, for a fairly old bloke who is not particularly good looking and terrible in social situations, all the women certainly do fall at his feet, don’t they?

Liked Roz.

Always shocks me that he was only 39

You’re going to have a fit when you discover Seinfeld.

Also, Frasier and Niles might have been snobbish idiots and the show pokes fun at them, but they’re clearly not bad people.

For the entire 11 season run? That is shocking

Yeah was amazed when I found out how right-wing he was. It was kind of, “Wait, so Sideshow Bob is his truest character?!!”

They’re not very English, just New England-y I guess.
