Get the theme to this in my head every time I’m in Manchester, much to the chargin of whatever company I am keeping.

He was on How2 with a thirst for knowledge,
I met Fred Dineage at my sixth form college
Don’t know why
He was passing by

This is actually true, I did meet him there and I have no idea what he was doing

Do we rate them on how much we enjoyed them back then?

Vorderman, Vorderman, Vorderman,
It wasn’t mighty Carol Vorderman

I still have similar problems at Paddington, Waterloo and Victoria stations in London.

Chucklevision’s a weird one.

I think I really liked it as a young kid. Hated it and found it naff as an older kid. Now I think it’s absolutely brilliant. Just 2 dads making the same dad jokes over and over for their career. Fair play to 'em.

I enjoyed it when I was young then as I got a bit older I couldn’t watch it anymore as it made me anxious watching them get themselves deeper and deeper into trouble.

Just checked and discovered that their run neatly enclosed the whole period of my life from young adulthood to middle age. A lesson in there for me I’m sure. [also means I shouldn’t really be eligible to vote I guess]

Best prank call to a British kids’ TV phone in

  • “Matt Bianco? You’re a bunch of wankers.” (Saturday Superstore, 1984)
  • “I’d like to ask Five Star why they’re so FUCKING CRAP!” (Going Live, 1989)
  • “What do you think of twats?” [To Aswad] and Toby Anstis camply shrugging “Well there always HAS to be one bad apple in the bunch!” (CBBC, 1994)

Remember when Slash was on SMTV live and they asked him about his snake and he said “the little fucker bit me.” Classic.

I remember all TV from when I was a kid as like this weird loud chaotic neon fever dream and it all seems so stressful, I don’t know how I ever put up with it.

Simon Le Bon when asked on Going Live about his 1985 near-death yacht accident - “It wasn’t that bad, the worst thing was first thing in the morning seeing the cook’s arse”

SMTV Live could reduce me to tears, just gasping for air I was laughing too much.
