Iāve split the league tables into 3: Comedy, Misc and Drama
Iāll do these threads on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Mon: Comedy, Wed: Misc and Fri: Drama
FAQ:
Q: Why?
A: Because itās quite hard to rate Wallace and Gromit on the same scale as The Wire, and the league table was getting a bit unwieldy
Q: What constitutes a āmiscā programme?
A: One that doesnāt fit into a broad comedy or drama box. So far this includes shows like Big Brother, Wallace and Gromit and The Big Breakfast. It will include kids shows, magazine programmes, reality tv, game shows etc.
Q: Who are the leaders of each table so far?
A: Iām Alan Partridge, The Wrong Trousers and The Wire.
Q: Do you think youāre taking this too seriously?
A: No
The films Iāve seen (HG and TLOB) are quite good, watched some of Flying Circus and thought it was a bit shit. Like aggpass said, smug. Basically like watching a load of posh schoolboys play soggy biscuit with jokes.
The series is a mixed bag, the first two films (not counting And Now for Somethingā¦) are genius, the third one is pretty good. How does Life of Brian have a rating of less than 4 at the moment?
Was like The Beatles of tv when I was growing up - ubiquitous, revered and loved by people who didnāt bother with any other comedy. Surprised by the comments so far.
Have only watched the TV series once or twice. Always surprises me how massive it is in other countries.
My Dad has always offered the Dad-hipster opinion that At Last the 1948 Show which preceded Monty Python was actually better. Think the Four Yorkshiremen sketch came from it
