📺 How Good Was it Really?: Monty Python's Flying Circus 📺

Absolutely, consistently done by this

iirc they told the extras they couldn’t laugh during the scene where he gets right in their faces or it would spoil the take, and so some of the lads’ desperate attempts to keep a straight face are legit :slightly_smiling_face:

Some years ago I opined that Monty Python was not really a funny comedy any more

Since then, virtually all my friends from abroad have confirmed my observation

So there must be some truth in it…

Or, they were paying the “average viewer” the respect of believing they would understand and appreciate the jokes instead of treating them all as idiots lost in a sea of scratchcards and X Factor (anachronistic references there, but what the hell).

ngl pretty disappointed with the temperature of the takes ITT

It’s basically just posh people’s sense of entitlement, they thought they were funny and had the confidence to put their stuff out there, with the paucity of alternatives people were tricked into thinking they were funny rather than just a bunch of wacksters

Sorry, forgot to vote, but some classic material in amongst the stodge. I’d give it a high 3, but reduced to a low 2 as Cleese is so crap at poetry.

Aha, I missed this but now understand the whole MISC etc. breakdown. Nice work.
