The part where Mark just starts self harming does always leave a bit of a sour taste, it was fucking shocking but it was never really explored and just felt a bit cursory and well, poor taste I suppose (more than the dog eating imho).

I’d forgotten about this. In hindsight it’s quite shocking as you say. I think they pushed the boundaries of the character too far and it’s definitely for the best they didn’t revisit this theme in future series.

The longer the note, the more dread.
My mate is in a couple of scenes in S8 (the one where Mark plays 5-a-side and then in the bar afterwards). He has alopecia, he asked the make up people to effectively colour his bald patches in black to match his hair. He said they spent most of a day filming that 5-a-side scene and he had black make up running everywhere from the sweat.
