Really not my cup of tea. Want to like it, but don’t really :frowning:

This series (and the brilliant books) probably defined my sense of humour as a young teen more than anything else.

always considered it in the pantheon of 90s sitcom along with partridge, father ted & bottom, but where I’m positive those three are actually brilliant pieces of work I’m not sure that I’d love red dwarf if I saw it for the first time now.

still a five and still has a big place in my heart

Think I’m in the minority of preferring the first series - the episodes in which the antagonism between Rimmer and Lister takes centre stage are the highlights.

So much gold before it finished on a cliffhanger and never came back at the end of S6 though. Of the later episodes, Quarantine and the Inquisitor stand out.

Was going to give a high 4 - but fuck it, other than Hitchhiker’s Guide it is unassailed in the world of sci-fi comedy. Let’s go 5.

Watched it, liked it.

Rewatched it some years later and found it complete rubbish.

Really really really bad.

Tried to like it at the time, but it just wasnt very good.

And its aged badly.

5/5

Sort of watched bits of it. My sister had some tapes and I remember going on the red dwarf website. It seemed like it was enjoyed mainly by friends older nerd brothers.

But sir! Space directive 436b? It is forbidden to catapault bananas with a caterpillar on your arse? HAHAHAHAHA
