Voting a 5 but if I watched it again would probably be a 2/3. Was the master of the serious moment in a comedy show, and the best 4th wall breaking of all time when the actress playing his aunt changed

Not even the best fourth wall break in the show (that was the bit when he threatened to move back to Philadelphia so an NBC exec showed up and bundled him into a van).

Once had a chat with a lad about “if you could be any person from history who would you be?” or whatever and after loads of quiet contemplation he said “Uncle Phil” and, at the time, I probably considered that to be one of the top-5 funniest things a person had said to me that calendar year.

Unfortunately if you watch it now it’s clearly quite rubbish. However I will give it a 3 for nostalgia and the theme tune.

4 I think, given what an absolute ming he is these days it’s hard to remember that Will Smith used to be a really, really gifted comic actor and this was the perfect vehicle for him.

how come he don’t want me, man?

A solid four from me. Very good classical sitcom with the line, line, punchline format, a way more interesting setting than most sitcoms, and a superb cast led by one of the most charismatic performers of his generation. Did serious stuff very well too. Marked it down because like most American shows there’s too much of it and a lot of it is merely fine, but I remember it fondly (no real desire to rewatch it though).

Fancied Hilary so much

reckon she was my first crush

(Mine was Louise Nurding but Hilary would have been in the first 5-10 I think)

has will smith ever been in a good film? think of him as being really successful but has he actually ever been in something that wasn’t shite?

independence day
bad boys
…men in black?

(mine was her or rachel stevens or beyonce (in austin powers goldmember), hard to remember for sure really)

Never really fully connected with me. I can appreciate the quality of the comic acting but I think I was a bit too young when it came out to properly get it. 3/5

Men in Black is actually excellent.

enemy of the state

I guess Ali? (Never seen it). But you’re right on the whole, a few decent action flicks but a lot of guff.
