I’ve always thought was the main allegory of the show. Everything is broken or second best. It’s set in Jersey rather than NY, so everything is a bit rusty or down at heel. The next generation are spoilt and useless. Corporate takeovers of retail are reducing the options for racketeering. And when they show Tony’s dad and Junior’s exploits in the 60s it seems like a golden age when everyone loved the mob.

Doing a rewatch at the moment. Nearly finished S1. It’s so good

Nah I think she is accurately reflecting the attitudes of her broadsheet journo community. And to be slightly fair to her, SATC is her “thing” so you’d expect her to bang on about it. It’s just it’s a fairly small “thing” to have.

I meant more she seems (to me) to be saying criticism of SATC is coming from people who think Sopranos is the greatest thing and I’m not convinced the people I’ve seen wouldn’t also have nuanced takes on Sopranos/not maybe like it/certainly be fine to talk about issues with Sopranos too.

Sure but I’d guess that circle also doesn’t find anything much problematic with SATC. Her Tweet is clearly aimed at wider, general Twitter.

Regarding the general thing Baddiel sticking his oar in, I don’t have any time for him but his only real crime is indulging her troll. What he’s said about not liking gangster stuff or even Sopranos seems absolutely fine.
