Oh I get an absolute fuckload of backseat driving which does my head in but I wouldn’t call that personal scrutiny really

I don’t think I could do it. I think i’d always have to go out with someone who plays golf or at least leaves the house for about 5 hours on a Saturday or Sunday for whatever reason.

LOVE ME SOME ME TIME doin ma thing

I also think going out with someone who appreciates alone time too is helpful because wanting time alone does not mean they don’t wanna spend time with you.

It’s pretty rare that the TV will say don’t wear that or stop that unless I’m deliberately trolling, as xylo mentioned most serious issues we worked out fairly early on.

I think if it was like constant criticism I’d probably find it a little tedious.

Really clingy people are trouble anyway.

Sorry Meowz, I don’t think it’s going to work…

I never leave the house. I’m always just… there.

Solution: never have an opinion on anything.

It could be more insidious though…like gradually encouraging someone to adopt a style that you think looks best on them. Not saying any one in this thread does this…there are just some dickheads out there

I always find people who totally change their dress sense to match their new partner’s really odd.

never really had that sort of thing with any (wheyyy) of my ex-tvs.

i’m probably more prone to scrutinizing tbh.

See, penoid card game players make excellent partners: I fuck off for entire days most weekends.

100% this. For us it tends to ebb and flow a little. I’m pretty insular at the best of times, but if my TV is struggling a bit mentally then she doesn’t quite have the confidence to lead her life as independently as usual. She never expects me to change my habits at these points, though.

I’d take this but I imagine that would lead to a lot of clutter in my house.

I’ve decided I want to be a minimalist.

btw googled ‘Mace Window’ and stared blankly at the screen for a while before realizing my error.

a little bit, and i think that’s ok - I’m not really sure what comes under ‘personal scrutiny’, and i’m not sure where the line is where someone might be helping another person and where someone is trying to control someone. If my girlfriend developed a bit of an unhealthy drinking habit / drugs habit I’m pretty sure i would intervene in some sense, is that ‘personal scrutiny’?
