While it’s disappointing that it’s a sausage fest I think it’s worth saying that there are a lot of women artists that have benefited from Progressive Indie Man Guilt - the odd bumping up of a solo woman for “being a good egg” etc which is why I think there’s a lot of pop/R&B women in the sub-3.00 above-2.60 range. I think that’s fine tbh, we obviously see a lot of bumping down for “fucking it” as well and I think given the wild imbalance of the forum it’s fine to do tokenistic point additions to do a tiny thing to negate that even if it can on a bad day grate as patronising. (I’m not suggesting it be the preferred approach, just that I don’t think it negates the sanctity of HGATR. Also, you should have done it for No Doubt you absolute chunguses!)
That said, do I think we’d see a very sausagey outcome in a Best Of The Rest world cup? …yes.
