but… the burger was just the patty, served on a plate, with bacon, chips and beans.

Burgers may very possibly be my favourite food.

Therefore in principle I have no objection to dropping Β£20 on one. Has to be a really, really excellent burger though.

Bloody love a burger. Have so many good vegan options now.

The layers of my idea home cooked burger are -

Bun
Gherkins / few blobs of American mustard / few blobs of ketchup
Follow Your Heart smoked gouda fake cheese
Beyond Meat Burg
Thin slice of tomato
Minced onion
Lettuce
Bun

Or if I’m in the mood

Bun
Pineapple ring
Lots of sriracha
Lots of smooth peanut butter
Linda McCartney quarter pounder
Minced onion
Lettuce
Bun

Reckon in London i might go to Β£12 if forced.

Those beyond burger ones are good, but Linda M mozzarella burgers are still the best supermarket vegetarian burgers I’m aware of.

I dislike most Linda M stuff (including the sausages), but those are great.

I dont like l.Mac burgs for some reason.

Had a Korean spiced one from waitrose that was good.

I like the quarter pounders because they’re quite robust but basically just taste like gravy.

Β£12 should see that you have a lovely burger

I dislike all of her burgers APART from the mozzarella ones. But if you don’t like them either, fair dos innit.

veggie sausages are ALL shit (cauldron best of a bad bunch)

The Beyond Meat sausage is good but five quid for two can fuck right off.

not tried them - and at that price, I won’t

Tried them to see if they were worth the hype. The verdict?

If they were in a restaurant and it was like Β£8 for a hot dog with them in I’d be really happy. Relative value is weird.

Best London burgers:
Mother Flipper Dirty Barbie
Bleecker bacon double cheeseburger
Honest Tribute
Halo quarter pounder

That said absolutely nothing beats a homemade burgee boi. 17/10

Same with the burgers. Β£5 for two in the shops? Ooft, thats a stretch. But I’ll happily pay Β£10 if I’m out for one that someones cooked for me and put in a bun.

Weirdly I’m not so keen on the BM sausages. I think they fail to nail the essence of a sausage in the way that the burgers have managed to.

Think my favourites are the Richmond meat free sausages.

Can’t really countenance spending more than Β£5-6 on any singular item of food when out
Doubt you’d really get much more bang for your buck thereafter

β€œwe’ve put the cheese inside the burger”

  • what a lovely surprise
  • fuck right off
