How uncool is it to regularly post on Facebook about having been in a britpop also ran band 20 years ago?

E.g:

“…is feeling old. 20 years ago today, this was released. I played drums, sang backing vocals, percussion and sported some seriously dodgy face furniture. The video was a sumptuous affair - shot in glorious Hastings, where I was pelted with pebbles by some drunk guys calling me a pig (I was dressed up as a Victorian Peeler). The continuity of the video is questionable; I think I’m wearing 3 different tops if you can be arsed to watch. At the end of the shoot, I got to drive the Land Rover back to London, harassing black cabs, then we ended up on Top of the Pops as it charted at No 3. Cheers - time flies eh?”

He posts stuff like this at least once every couple of weeks. Feels like just wants to be sure in case anyone didn’t know he was in this band they might have heard of.

Take it to the awful things people post on social media thread

Also you have to tell us what band

We lived in a dogfish, egg case
You could barely call it home
Sorry, little lot no roof on top
But the fish left us alone
Try a little more said the girl next door
It’s time to roam

Mad Lizzy Crumbs, blind cobblers thumbs
Were a sight to behold
She was a rum old slapper and we always
Tried to get her pants off when she phoned
Left her cap by the sink, it’s not what you think
Oh, take me home

Now, we know where we’re going, baby
We can lay back and enjoy the ride
Take in the sights and drown in our senses
Love is the law, so, take me deep inside

Strap on Sally chased us down the alley
We feared for our behinds
Oasis was a shop with shoes so hot
They were sure to blow your minds
Running so fast, I can take the past
Oh, take home

Now, we know where we’re going, baby
We can lay back and enjoy the ride
Take in the sights and drown in our senses
Love is the law, so, take me deep inside

These waters run deep, it’s clear my little one
Blue, velvet, star sky, not a sound
The light in your eyes, the smile on your ruby lips
Tells me my lost soul is found

Now, we know where we’re going, baby
We can lay back and enjoy the ride
Take in the sights and drown in our senses
Love is the law, so, take me deep inside

Got into a bit of a Britpop gig wormhole. £42 for this?!

FO, M.

Hmm maybe I grew up in the wrong country and the wrong time, but surely there aren’t any more britpop bands than
Oasis
Blur
Pulp
The Verve
Supergrass
Suede

James

Nah, pre Britpop by quite a way

Would have thought they still counted?

Will defer to you on this one though as I was like 4 at the time. I normally just lump all those bands together.

beaut of a song

Echobelly
Sleeper
Cast
Space
The Bluetones
Northern Uproar

… Bleak

Never heard of any of those bands

The Bluetones had a couple of decentish songs, as did Echobelly. The rest are utter shite though

Not everything indie counted as Britpop. Not really sure why.

As far as James go, Britpop was really 1994 to 1997 and they didn’t release a big album in that period exactly. So that’s part of what resonates.

Similarly Radiohead are also not Britpop because of just never really being popular in any mainstream way in that period, etc.
