Got a nice recipe for a warm salad - fry chick peas and mushrooms in a pan, add harissa, then when it’s cooked mix it in a bowl with spinach leaves, cherry tomatoes and feta

I’m not heating up the leaves, the leaves are cold, it’s still a salad. Is a chicken caesar salad not a salad if the chicken’s warm?

Shirazi Salad. I can’t find the exact recipe online but it’s something like this:

one whole cucumber (remove the watery bits from the middle)
4-6 vine tomatoes (remove pips)
one red onion
Juice of one lemon
Sea salt and black pepper to taste
100g pomegranate seeds
1tsp sumac.

  1. chop the cucumber, tomatoes and onion very finely - 5mm chunks or thereabouts
  2. mix together in a bowl with the lemon juice, salt and pepper
  3. lay out on a shallow serving dish
  4. sprinkle the pomegranate seeds on top, and then the sumac on top of that.

The chopping is a bit of a faff but it’s worth the effort.

here’s what I make

roast some chunks of sweet potato in olive oil, maybe roast some brocoli too

then mix it all up with a mustardy dressing with cherry toms, some salad leave and some smoked mackerel .
