I tried that, cut out all midweek drinking for a while. It meant the weekend though I would go bananas, really look forward to getting smashed. So I felt an even few each night was better.

There’s been a fair number of threads where Meow has said something others have disagreed with but they tend to be quite rude to her tbh rather than engaging in a debate…same culprits too

Have you stupid pricks sent Meowz packing?

Don’t go @meowington

Coming up for 11 months drink and drugs free after 20 years of significant over indulgence. It’s been shit.

Not really, it’s been fine! Amazed how infrequently I miss it and wish I’d managed to stop a few years earlier.

drink daily to get through at the moment. Can’t handle doing my job unless I’ve had/know I’m going to soon have a drink.

I hope it kills me soon

I don’t drink much nowadays as I am useless with hangovers. Very occasionally i will go out and drink too much and then regret it in the morning. Cannot remember the last time i was drunk or had a hangover. Was probably about 8 months ago.

I have 2 close family members that have died from alcohol abuse, a third is way on his way.

I think it’s kept my drinking right down seeing the effects first hand.

Nice work. I’m 412 days drink and drug free. All got a bit out of hand last year, mainly due to self-medicating anxiety and depression issues, ended up going to rehab in Thailand, best thing I ever did. I sure as hell don’t miss hangovers, and don’t miss the fear and anxiety I’d get after a heavy session.

I do wish the UK had more options in terms of non-alcoholic drinks, mainland Europe seems much better for this.

Brew Dog Nanny State is pretty good though

Me too, but a good French red beats anything for me

That doesn’t sound like a huge amount? Maybe 9 units for the wine and another 2 for each cocktail?

Congratulations- always a good thing to wake up after a night out and not have the fear!

More non-alcoholic drink options would be good as it can be pretty dull - not tried the brew dog but will give it a try at some point.

Oh haha that’s different  the G&Ts are a unit or two each depending on the size, the wine would be two or three units and the cocktails maybe two units each. So that’s like 12-15 units maybe?

As a weekly intake that’s not huge

Nanny State is my wife’s drink of choice during pregnancy. Definitely the best non-alcoholic beer out there.

As someone who used to be into beer like you seem to be, it is one thing I miss, I get envious of my mates getting to try all these new beers. But with people like Mikkeller, Brew Dog and even Pressure Drop making beers less than 0.5%, things are improving and I hope more breweries do it

Got a friend who quit drinking for similar reasons (and didn’t really like the person she was when drunk), who now makes it her mission to try every weird soda she can find in bars.
