If someone recommends a band or something and they’re no longer going, probably won’t give them a listen. If there’s a prospect of getting to see them play live in future count me in. Otherwise, no thanks!

Pros:
- Nice knowing they probably won’t say or do anything reprehensible that means you have to stop listening to them
- Finite discographies meaning you don’t feel obliged to listen to new stuff that probably won’t be any good
Cons:
- Won’t ever see them live
- The finite discographies point above being undermined by tedious nerds who want to release loads of pointless demos and B-sides.

Don’t really get the point of getting into someone new if they exist
Most Artists have a purple patch of maybe 2-3 albums and if they are exceptionally good maybe 2-3 more that are engaging before churning out mediocre rehashes. Maybe 2/3rds of artists are deeply average live acts too.
Dont think im missing too much of them being dead.

I get the point of getting into a no longer active artist, but usually I just can’t be bothered. I guess I just like the prospect of hearing something new from an artist in future.
