Thing about wanking references is that you don’t want to have to go into too much detail, lest you reveal your own… unorthodox proclivities.
“Wank sock” works well because every wanker can attach their own personal understanding to it. Whereas “three sheets of man-size kleenex, folded by ingenious method perfected over 13 years” might threaten to invite further request for elaboration.
