I hear you're a racist now "👌" (OK symbol as White Power)

TL;DR: alt-right guys pretended the :ok_hand: was a white power symbol in order to try to ‘own’ liberals by making up something so ludicrous it would seem ridiculous to highlight it. But they forgot that white nationalists would also read their stuff and so it got adopted unironically.

Or possibly ironically but as we know you can’t really do that unless you’re actually performing something where your audience understands there is irony to your actions. Either way, it is now a White Power symbol.

So don’t go using it without knowing that.

I like using it in terms of food or something being spot on.

They will regret having wronged the vengeful Emmerdale bad girl

I learned about this in the comments for the video for Danny Nedelko. Gives the video a very different meaning if you interpret it that way.

There’s a bit of a discussion about it following on from the posting of that front page in the politics thread

Occasionally use it with an accompanying jerking wrist action when I wish to commend fellow road users.

How so?

Is there such a thing?

FFS I just used it like 3 times in the NFL thread

I don’t know what this means but okay.

Aha, cheers! I wasn’t really sure if it had come up and wasn’t even sure how to search for it, but felt a main thread to let everyone know this is ‘out there’ was worthwhile.

Almost certainly dumb question: is it better in this case to stop using it to avoid misunderstanding, or keep using it so it is more difficult for a group to claim it?
