Not cost effective to spend as much money on snow preparedness as Canada, for the handful of days each year (if that) that we get substantial snow in this country.

But think about the cost to the economy for all that wasted time and effort and for people not making it into work etc. Surely there’s got to be some way of increasing preparedness without breaking the bank!

I’ve got a theory right that countries all deal with it more or less the same (except Scandinavia who’ve cracked it as they do for everything) but our country has a really stringent form of capitalism and everyone is so downtrodden and overtired that being 4 minutes late makes life quite honestly not worth living for some people and enough for them to want to hurl the nearest old dear onto the tracks

I just went to Tesco (big fella) and nearly all the fridges were bust due to heat. Fortunately I was able to get feta.

I vividly remember, as a fresh faced young Scandinavian spending my first year in a UK uni, how actual lectures were cancelled because people were «snowed in» — when there was less than an inch of snow on the ground. You could still see the green grass through the snow!
I learned something about the world that day.
