It was quieter before it was changed. Still quiet but I think that’s more to do with the fact that 25% of the regulars left recently tbf

Oh I can’t stay mad at you :hugs:

We’re trying to move away from using the d word if we can pal cause of ableism but your general point is spot on.

Ah shite, apologies my man.
It was a play on the username rather than malicious. I’m tripping myself up without thinking, I’ll do better.
But yeah those threads suck.

Oh I know, just trying to catch them wherever I can so we can collectively improve.

Not sure how he hasn’t been shitcanned yet tbh.

I like him

No you’re just right mate. We can all do better.

I’ve no idea tbh, I’ve flagged him a few times including one where he was very aggressive and derogatory to a board member.

Reckon we should just let the Ryan Damas guy get on with it.

Him creating very generic threads which he then abandons, while building ‘trust’ points with the Discourse infrastructure is what he’s at. His end goal may just be spamming more rather than something malicious.

If he wants to spam his music he can go to the classifieds and tear away. The issue I have now is him being derogatory for taking his threads with a pinch of salt and being lighthearted in them.

Feel like the classified board’s suffered from being bumped down the main page. We can’t expect denovali to keep the whole thing going singlehanded.

In the past 3 days he’s called people ‘stupid’, ‘fuck face’ and ‘pathetic’ amongst other needlessly aggressive posts.

You would.

Hello!

There was a lot of talk of evaluations and other stuff, but that was before most of the moderators left due to being physically and mentally exhausted.

We’re leaving it like this for now and see how it settles in, if my impression a couple months from now is that everyone hates it I might reconsider. But a lot of the changes (ie. restricted access areas etc) has been requested by users for a long time, so idk.

You’re all welcome to have discussions about the set-up and other stuff of course, and I’ll look at what’s being said, but I’m personally not going to instigate lots of time-consuming evaluation processes.

Hope that clarifies some things!

Yeah, I’ve noticed some regulars that have left.

Shame, I really enjoyed their posts and views on things. Not sure why they left, inevitably multi factorial but I hope they’re back here soon.

Which is a fair point but it feels a bit off to assume that the user is a troll or is trying to spam their way to a higher trust level and not someone who has trouble expressing themselves and has a load of folk piling on them. Some of it is quite uncomfortable to read, especially after the recent conversations we had about making DiS a better place for all. People are quite clearly taking the opportunity to take the piss which doesn’t really seem necessary at all.

If people find the user’s posting aggressive then it’s something that the mods should be dealing with but that doesn’t appear to be the issue that most people have with them from what I can see.

Yeah I agree some of it is unnecessary, I was just talking from my personal point of view about his aggressive and insulting posting, which is what I have an issue with rather than starting some annoying threads. If that was a big deal then there’d be none of us left.

I don’t have a problem with silly random threads, in fact, it’s something I’ve been known to very much enjoy in my many years here. For clarity, though in case anyone didn’t see it, this is what the warning signs are flashing from:

I like it obv. Find the extra structure helpful and feel more comfortable starting threads knowing they’re likely to be engaged with by people who are actually interested in them rather than by bored shitposters on social, maybe the threads are a bit less active as a result but I don’t mind that and wouldn’t say activity is the best metric to go by

SSP board is great too

Do miss some of the users that left though :frowning:
