Definitely one of the best albums of all time the more I think about it. Love most of their catalogue but those songs really hit me in a special way.

I am inclined to agree with you.

It is so emotionally affecting without ever being manipulative or saccharine about it, and does it with strangeness, creativity and irrepressible energy.

Usually I just like his lyrics cos they’re just really colourful and show a real love of language despite seeming like they don’t really mean anything. But that verse:

But the word got out
It was really such a pity
But the judges and the saints
And the textbook committee
Decided you should be left out
Not even mentioned

along with the opening lines of Tractor Rape Chain, both just hit me very much in the feelz and I have no idea why
