A few months ago I ordered a new iPhone from Amazon. Package showed up the next day, I accepted it from the driver, took it inside, opened it, and it was a second paperback about pre-Columbus America. Lol, I thought, what a silly and annoying mistake they’ve made.
Except, when I inform Amazon of said mistake, they point out that as far as they’re concerned, they delivered me a phone. And what proof do I have that I haven’t got the phone, and am just pretending I got a book and I’m trying to scam them for a second phone? None.
It took weeks to sort out, and ultimately it was only fixed because I know someone who works these who was able to intervene in my case. As far as they were officially concerned, I was straight up fucked.

It was really stressful, obviously a lot of money was on the line. And we thought it would be sorted really easily, so it was scary when the response was essentially “not our problem”.
I don’t want to give you bad vibes, I think you’ll have a lovely time with your phone, just be wary!

I had to send it back to them as “evidence”! Fat lot of good that did.
If I was in charge of one of the big phone company then the first thing I’d do was change their names from phones to “hand computers”. Because that’s what they are isn’t it. Little computers that live in your hand
