The obvious football one aside, I think i’d probably say the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah. Never seen anything like it in terms of momentum, narrative, and just edge-of-the-seat fun.
Honourable mentions to England winning the cricket World Cup in 2019, the rugby union World Cup in 2003, the Benn v Eubank fights, or Italy v Ireland at USA '94 which I’ve just got happy personal memories of.

Drogba penalty vs Bayern Munich in 2012, nothing else even comes close. Would love to hear the sound of 20k coked up 50 year old blokes instantly roaring and it dissolving into sobs within seconds again, was properly surreal. Only having a kid has matched it.
Or maybe that game where Jon Walters missed a penalty, scored two own goals and kicked the ball into his own face.
1996 Division 3 Play Off Final. I was there but I was 11 so would be good to relive it being able to appreciate and join in with everything.
1999 Champions League final too maybe, was pretty thrilling to watch that unfold. Also I watched the Aguerooooooo games in the pub I ran with a pretty much even 50/50 split of City and United fans, that would be good to do again.

I had just been to Wembley to see West Ham win the Championship playoff final, then went to meet a Spurs supporting mate in Soho to watch the Champions League Final. Spurs had finished 4th so needed Chelsea to lose or they’d miss out.

Was pretty big into taking the piss of supporters I perceived as living in the past up until that point, pretty much changed over night. Completely appreciate that nostalgia now, especially when you’re there for it.
I’m not a big sports watcher really, but my cousin won a gold medal in the 2000 Sydney paralympics, just a few years before she died. If it had happened today it would probably at least have been on iplayer or something and we could have watched it, but at the time streaming didn’t exist and there wasn’t much media interest in disabled sports. So it would be nice to witness that.

As a man utd kid, the 99 Champions league final is a boringly obvious choice.
So I’ll go with the Manchester city playoff final that happened a couple of weeks later. Those two games are rare occasions where my dad made an effort to do something with me. He took me to my uncles local to watch the CL final and there were loads of city fans cheering on united that night and they made us promise we’d come back to cheer on them for their playoff final as well. So my dad took me back to the same pub and we cheered on city to get (I think?) back into division 1 aka the championship. I remember it being tense, went through the penalties and city made it through in the end. Was definitely a great game to watch and experience.

The Taibi match where the Utd goalie committed such a howler after 30 seconds that he never played for them again. Absolutely trounced them and then Dennis Wise and Dan Petrescu turned up in the pub afterwards, signing every bit of paper put in front of them. A great day out.
Watched that in my pub with the 2012-13 Burnley squad who were in Bath for a pre season thing. Brian Jensen bought 4 1.5l bottles of smirnoff.
