Hello all, it’s your pal still. AKA inside-outside from the old boards. I’m raising money for Leeds Children’s Hospital and I thought of you all - the wonderful and generous nuts readers with record collections of DiS.
I’m running up and down the stairs in my house every day for about 5km until I’ve climbed the equivalent height of each of the highest peaks on the 7 continents. It’s about 43,800 vertical metres or 16,661 flights of stairs.
I just opened the funding page today because I wanted to know if I could do it before I got my begging cap out, but I’m more than halfway through now so I’m going for it. Check out the just giving page
Added bonus: if I reach my goal then I’m adding Olympus mons to the total which is another 25,000 vertical metres. So there is an incentive to donate if you want to punish me, which I encourage you to do
Thanks for the sponsorship so far folks. I’m up to £796 plus £180 gift aid. Looks like I’m going to be doing the full 68,318m so I’m in it for the long haul.
I’m up to 33,700 so far so nearly halfway. Probably another 2+ months of it left!
Just reached £1000 in sponsors this morning. Also the hospital charity got ok touch and are doing a piece for their website so it’s all going swimmingly. Very pleasing indeed.
I’ve got 20,000m to go so 7,100 floors left to run.
Expect several more JAG funding requests in the next month
I’m doing on average 600m per day which is about 215 floors, but some days I’ve done double that. It depends on how my joints are feeling, it’s a killer on the ankles, Achilles and knees!
It’s really great exercise though, if a little boring just sprinting up and down the same staircase for 35/40 mins a day.
The total climb is 68.3km so at 600m a day it’s still taking months!
