Have A Nice Life - The Unnatural World One I’d been meaning to check out for a while. Really liked the ambience of it even if nothing really grabbed me. Feel they do the quiet side of what Kayo Dot better than Kayo Dot. 7/10
JPEGMafia - Black Ben Carson Some really interesting sounds in the back of some very tired sounding rapping. Don’t think its an exagurration to say 10%-15% of the lyrics are just the word “bitch”. Enjoyed ‘Cuck’ and ‘Try Me’ the most. 6/10 (1 point for the Steve Austin references).
Jenny Hval - Apocalypse, Girl Had only heard her for the first time the other day. Felt like some of it is experimentation for experimentation’s sake, and a lot of it is quite dreary. Going to listen to it again though before giving it a score. 6/10
Animal Collective - Painting With Had been listening to Strawberry Jam recently and never listened to this. ‘Floridada’ is great and I enjoyed ‘The Burglars’ but it was a struggle not to turn this off towards the end. No real songs to hold it together. 5/10.
The Residents - Animal Lover Was expecting this to be MUCH worse than it is due to past experiences with them. Actually some really beautiful sounding songs - Mr Bees Bumble & My Window especially. Irritating that theres a lot of silly stuff going on as they have a really unique spaghetti western/chamber pop sound at times that I could really go for. 7/10.
