I'm going to New York for the first time next month - please tell me all about it

I’m actually going for the marathon and staying the week after.

it’ll be my first time in the US.

As a dis’er you can probably tell my musical tastes (shoegaze, post-punk, etc) so any good bars, gig venues, places to eat etc…

All recommendations for everything welcome.

Cheers

Some people prefer downtown but uptown also has it’s charms

It numbers Manhattan, Queens and Harlem amongst its districts.

You should get a sandwich from a shop called “Subway”. This is the authentic taste of New York.

My sister is on holiday there right now and has already been in the audience for two (2) late-night talk shows for some reason

ignore everyone above, obviously (except laefly)

for music: st vitus, bowery ballroom.

for bars: go to Green Point in Brooklyn if you want chill, lower east if you want hipster fancy.
