I'm now on the fun committee

Just got told by my manager that I’m on the fun committee. Yay!

Basically we have to organise fun things to do.

What do you reckon I should suggest?

There’s 14 people in total in the department but we’re good buddies with another department of ~5 people. So anything up to about 20 people could be useful. Smaller group things fine too.

But then also, other things like fun stuff we could do in the office and not just activities, good places for food or just interesting pubs.

Office is in London with one mandatory meeting a month so people will be coming from further away.

BTW this is not the thread to tell me that you don’t like socialising with your colleagues - go moan about them elsewhere.

My colleagues are fine and I like them but if anyone at my work suggested forming, let alone me joining, something called a ‘fun committee’ then I would simply resign.

Used to be on one of these at my work - scavenger hunts were always popular - send people out in teams to gather items, photographs of things in a small radius from the office then convene to score and maybe a final round in a pub function space somewhere. We used to do themed events (olympics, superheroes, beach holiday) and people got really into dressing up for them. A TV game show based quiz often went down well (Name That Tune, Countdown, Play Your Cards Right, etc).

Do you have lanyards?

Maybe just project the “Great Things” thread on a big screen and slowly scroll through it.

A series of weekly challenges getting progressively harder until there is just one person standing

That person gets to be next term’s ‘Fun Tsar’

felt pretty satisfied that I remembered my ‘no moaning about colleagues’ disclaimer, but now it seems silly that I forgot me ‘this thread is for people who like fun’ disclaimer

‘card games’ is actually on the list already, not sure if I’ll be able to edit it to ‘penoid card games like what epimer does’

The first act of the fun committee is to disband the fun committee.
