Could you expand on your hypothesis please Ant, nor sure if I understand the ways in which these could be the real superheroes
I guess the thought that birthed this particular piece was the phrase “in many ways they’re the real superheroes” which people tend to say about teachers, nurses etc etc as a way of highlighting their importance but at the same time, their undervaluedness.
The twist, if you like, was for me to upend expectations of the phrase by taking the “superheroes” bit more literally.
It’s a really very, very funny piece of threadsmithery I’m sure you’ll all agree.

Super-man is an alien and bat-man just a thug. Spiderman got bitten by a spider and thwrfore is a real super-hero. Cant speak for the rest.
