Indiana Jones 5: You Are My Density SPOILSIES

It was fine.

Dunno if lastdino knew back in December that this film would feature time travel but if not then BTTF reference is a hell of a cool coincidence in the title! :grinning:

I thought it was fun, better than the 4th. Felt a bit too determined to reference/reuse old original film ideas but surprisingly it worked overall.

The bit at the end with Marion made me :smiling_face_with_tear:

I thought it was pretty good when people weren’t punching each other or chasing each other

Rubbish title though. Truly bad.

I think Fleabag should have done one knowing smirk direct to camera. Just one.

Very oddly written character that

Thought this was alright and that Phoebe Waller Bridge was pretty good and fitted in well.

@lastdino okay if the title is amended to say spoilers? Want to talk more but dont want to blur every post

Yes but no one tag me anymore cos I haven’t seen it yet

@lastdino wasn’t it odd that the main villain’s side kick was played by Jimmy Krankie

She was good but it was weird how she went from super villain to liking him suddenly

I don’t think that was it at all, she just thought he’d abandoned her and had her eyes on getting some cash. She warrants out for her arrest or what so when she’s chased at the start she doesn’t understand it’s because of the dial.

It’s differently set up to the others (although I guess you don’t realise that having not seen them) in that they all setup the main ‘quest’ early on so it’s clear who the antagonists are.

Here from Indy and Helen’s POV it’s not really until Greece that they both understand the stakes and so forth. Until then she is just trying to get money to survive.

Fair points but she a bit more than worried about cash, she seems to want him to die? Didnt detract and I thought she was good but it did seem she was a bit TOO unlikeable ti be redeemed cause he did the speech

Was his son in any others? Seems to be what changed her opinion

Yeah the son is in the fourth film, played by Shia LaBeouf, which also stars Marion (who’s originally from the first Indy film (Raiders), which is second chronologically).

I think she needs that money because otherwise she’s going to be pretty brutally killed so Indy’s actions are putting her life in direct jeopardy, hence she’s not thinking too straight.

Blimey!

Yeah, was always divisive at the time. Now he’s been MeToo’d I was definitely glad he wasn’t in this.

But I’m a bit of an apologist for the 4th film, which is to say I just think it’s pretty dull and listless, not actually dreadful, and I enjoyed his character in it.

I’ll probs give it a watch, I did enjoy this one. The time travel thing was utterly mental so anything close to that I’m happy.

This is an escalation tbf, but the previous one is similar. Worth watching them in release order though. You will probably catch the two huge callbacks as well as setting up Marion correctly.

Yeah I did find it a bit emotional but I genuinely had no idea who she was.

Did you find there was a lot of kids at your screening? Was at mine, not sure they were fully on board. Was sat next to a parent and two kids and they got proper restless about 2 hrs 10 in. Not disruptive or owt but could tell they were struggling

Can’t work out how much effort John Williams put into this. Just wholesale reusing of sequences from previous films, which is a shame. Better to get someone else in to work with his style I think. The guy who worked with him on Solo could have done it, surely?
